BC ALPINE: FIS

Upon completion of the Alcan Nancy Greene Ski League and the Juvenile Series racing programs athletes enter a category referred to as Mars Junior/FIS. FIS stands for Federation Internationale de Ski, which is the governing body for all amateur ski racing at the international level. The Junior category includes J1, J2 and Senior (SR)

  • J1 - 15-16 years old
  • J2 - 17-18 years old
  • SR - 19+ years old

In this age group the BC Alpine competitors have many options for competition series, some provincial and other national and international. These include:

  • Mars Cup (see schedule link above)
  • Pontiac GMC Cup
  • Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships
  • Nor-Am Championships
  • World Junior Alpine Championships

The BC Cup Series is sanctioned by FIS and host FIS athletes from all over Canada and potentially all over the world. The BC Ski Team attends most BC Cup events and on occasion the Canadian Alpine Ski Team attends these events.
